Day 1 Day 1 – Depart U.S.A
Enjoy the flight.
Day 2 Day 2 – Milan - Padua
Upon arrival take a short panoramic tour of Milan. Then drive to Padua.
Day 3 Day 3 – Padua - Venice - Padua
Enjoy a guided city tour in Venice with free time to explore on your own.
Day 4 Day 4 – Padua - Siena - Orvieto
Depart today to Siena, the birthplace of Saints Catherine and Bernadine. Here we stroll the Piazza Del Campo, one of Italy’s finest squares. Visit the Cathedral and the Basilica of St. Francis and view the incorrupt head of St. Catherine at the Basilica of St. Dominic. Afternoon departure to Orvieto.
Day 5 Day 5 – Orvieto - Cascia - Assisi
Our morning visit in Orvieto includes the Cathedral, located in the town ‘s main square, which is the landmark of the tiny city. View the holy corporal containing the blood from the Eucharistic Miracle of Orvieto in 1263 that occasioned the proclamation of the Feast of Corpus Christi. On to Cascia to visit the Basilica of St. Rita that contains Rita’s incorrupt body. Continue to Assisi.
Day 6 Day 6 – Assisi - Loreto - Ancona
Today we explore the hilltop birthplace of St. Francis. Visit the Basilica of St. Francis and the Basilica of St. Clare. Then we go down to visit the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Porziuncola. Continue to the great Marian Shrine of Loreto and see the family home of Jesus, Mary and Joseph located inside the Basilica, where it has been since 1294. This evening we take our overnight ferry boat to Split.
Day 7 Day 7 – Split - Medjugorje
Arrive Split in the morning. We continue with our bus to Medjugorje. We spend the afternoon exploring this peaceful place. In the evening, we can join the villagers and pilgrims for the evening Mass and the blessing of the sick.
Day 8 Day 8 – Medjugorje
In the morning, attend the English Mass at St. James Church and later we follow the same path up the Apparition Hill where the young visionaries first encountered Our Lady. Our guide will arrange a meeting with one of the visionaries in their own homes or a public place (subject to their schedule and health).
Day 9 Day 9 – Medjugorje - Split
After holy Mass at St. James Church, we depart Medjugorje to Split. We tour the old city with its Roman heritage and its Renaissance and Gothic structures. Visit the Roman ruins and the Cathedral of St. Domnius, the town’s patron saint. Overnight ferry boat to Ancona.
Day 10 Day 10 – Ancona - Lanciano - San Giovanni Rotondo
Arrive in the morning to Ancona, Italy from where we continue our visit of Italy. On our way to San Giovanni Rotondo, we stop in Lanciano to visit the Sanctuary of the Eucharistic Miracle. Continue to San Giovanni Rotondo.
Day 11 Day 11 – San Giovanni Rotondo - Monte Sant’ Angelo
We will spend the day in and around San Giovanni to see the places associated with St. Pio. Visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Grace that houses the tomb of Padre Pio. Later we visit the Grotto of Michael the Archangel in Monte Sant’ Angelo. Many Popes have knelt in prayer here seeking the protection of St. Michael.
Day 12 Day 12 – San Giovanni Rotondo - Pompei - Montecasino - Rome
Drive to Pompei and tour the ancient ruins including the temple of Apollo, Jupiter and the Forum, the commercial district and a Pompeii bakery. Continue to Montecasino, a beautiful town founded by St. Benedict in 529. Arrive Rome in the evening.
Day 13 Day 13 – Rome - Basilicas - Museum
This morning we visit the heart, home and spiritual capital for Catholics around the world. Visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the crypt of Pope John Paul II, the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. Then the other major Basilicas of Rome: St. Mary Major, and St. John Lateran plus the Holy Stairs.
Day 14 Day 14 – Papal Audience - Catacombs
Transfer to the Vatican City for the weekly Papal audience (subject to the Holy Father’s health and schedule). Following the audience, we visit the Catacomb of Callistus and the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, and pass by Imperial Rome, the Forum and the Coliseum.
Day 15 Day 15 – Return to USA
