Day 1 Day 1 – Depart U.S.A
Enjoy the flight.
Day 2 Day 2 – Arrive Warsaw
Enjoy a panoramic tour including the old town and Lazienki Park. After a short rest at our hotel celebrate Mass at St. Anna church. It was here that John Paul II met with young people during his first pilgrimage to Poland (in June 1979).
Day 3 Day 3 – Warsaw - Niepokalanow - Czestochowa - Krakow
Depart to Niepokalanow visiting the “City of the Immaculate” built by St. Maximilian Kolbe. Continue to Czestochowa and visit the Shrine of Jasna Gora (home to the Black Madonna) for a guided tour of the shrine by one of the nuns or priests at the shrine. Continue to Krakow.
Day 4 Day 4 – Divine Mercy - Krakow
At Wawel Hill visit the Cathedral of St. Stanislaw, Poland’s second most important pilgrimage shrine and visit the cathedral’s crypts. See the Wawel Royal Castle, one of the most beautiful renaissance residences in central Europe. Continue to Krakow’s Old Town to see the main Market Square, Mariacki Church, Cloth Hall, the Franciscan Church and Barbican. Travel to Lagiewniki Monastery and St. Faustina ‘s Shrine where we celebrate Holy Mass. Walk the convent grounds where St. Faustina spent most of her short life praying. Return to Krakow.
Day 5 Day 5 – Auschwitz - Wadowice - Wieliczka - Krakow
Drive to the Auschwitz concentration camp, now preserved as a national monument. We will visit St. Maximilian Kolbe ‘s cell where he gave his life to save a fellow prisoner. Drive to Wadowice, home town of Pope John Paul II. Visit the Holy Father’s House, now museum, and his home parish church where he was baptized. After Mass continue to Wieliczka to visit Europe’s oldest salt mine. The mine is a unique place where many generations of Polish miners have created a world of underground chambers and decorated chapels carved out of salt including the famous Chapel of St. Kinga.
Day 6 Day 6 – Krakow - Tel Aviv - Jerusalem
Fly to Tel Aviv. On arrival transfer to Jerusalem.
Day 7 Day 7 – Mount of Olives - Gethsemane - Ein Karem - Bethlehem - Jerusalem
Start our visit of the Holy Land on the Mount of Olives to view the Old City. Visit the Church of Pater Noster, Place of the Ascension, Dominus Flevit and St. Mary Magdalene Church. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of the Visitation in Ein Karem. In Bethlehem, visit the Church of the Nativity and the Basilica of St. Catherine. Then journey down to the Shepherds‘ Field where the angels announced the Good News to the shepherds.
Day 8 Day 8 – Jerusalem - Old City - Way of Cross - Mount Zion
Enter the Old City to visit the Church of St. Anne, the Pools of Bethesda and follow the Stations of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. We walk through the Cardo to the Western Wall. On Mount Zion, we visit the Room of the Last Supper, the Upper Room, the House of Caiaphas and the church of St. Peter in Gallicantu.
Day 9 Day 9 – Bethany - Jericho - River Jordan - Dead Sea - Qumran
Depart Jerusalem and stop in Bethany, known as the place where Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Continue through the Judean Desert to Jericho to see the excavations of Old Jericho, the Mount of Temptation. Then we continue to the baptismal site on the River Jordan and later to the Dead Sea (time to swim). Next travel on to Qumran to view the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Return to Jerusalem.
Day 10 Day 10 – Jerusalem - Caesarea - Haifa - Nazareth
This morning we drive to the coast and stop in Caesarea to visit the ancient city with its Roman temple, royal palace, amphitheater, public buildings and the aqueduct. Continue to Haifa and Mount Carmel to visit Stella Maris Carmelite Monastery and Elijah ‘s Cave. Then on to Cana, the traditional site where Jesus performed His first public miracle. We conclude our day in Nazareth, visiting the Church of the Annunciation, the Holy Grotto and the Church of St. Joseph.
Day 11 Day 11 – Galilee - Capernaum - Mount of Beatitudes
Today we will explore the sites along the Sea of Galilee: Capernaum where Jesus preached in the Synagogue, St. Peter ‘s House, Mount Beatitudes and Tabgha where Jesus multiplied the loaves of bread and fishes. We will also enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.
Day 12 Day 12 – Return to USA
