Daily Itinerary

Day 1 Welcome to Italy - Como

Upon arrival at Milan Airport, we will be greeted by our English speaking tour manager who will be with the group during the entire stay in Italy. We will board the private deluxe bus and transfer to Como on the majestic Lake Como. Dinner and overnight at our hotel (D)

Day 2 Como - Bellagio – Como

 This morning we will enjoy a beautiful boat trip to Bellagio which has one of the best views of the lake since the village is located at the center of the lake where this splits in the two branches of Lake Como and Lake Lecco. We will walk along its narrow streets and enchanting alleys till Villa Melzi where we will tour its wonderful gardens. In the afternoon we will return to Como. Some free time before dinner at our hotel. Overnight in Como (B, D)

Day 3 Como – Courmayeur

 After breakfast, we will drive to Courmayeur at the head of Aosta Valley in the Italian Alps. This enchanting little mountain town of cobbled piazzas and slate roofs offers sensational views over the Mt Blanc massif. We will have the opportunity to take the Skyway Monte Bianco cableway to reach 3,466 meters or to stroll the town full of Italian fashion boutiques and local restaurants. Dinner and overnight at our hotel (B, D)

Day 4 Courmayeur - Grinzane Cavour - La Spezia

 Following breakfast and check out, we will drive to the town of Grinzane Cavour in the Langhe Region. Here we will visit the Castle, home of the famous Italian politician Camillo Benso Count of Cavour, and enjoy a special tasting of some of the greatest Piedmontese red wines. Later we will continue to La Spezia. Dinner and overnight (B, D)

Day 5 Walking day: Cinque Terre (3 miles)

After breakfast we drive to the ancient village of Portovenere, where we will discover the fortified church of Saint Peter. Then, by cruise, we will admire the incredible landscape of the Ligure coast till the village of Riomaggiore, the first of Cinque Terre. Later we will continue our boat trip till Manarola, and we will enjoy a fish lunch with local Sciacchetrà wine. Following the coastline around the perched village of Corniglia we will finally reach Vernazza, the fourth of “Cinque Terre”, and we will continue by walk till Monterosso, the last one to the west. We will discover the magnificent National Parc of Cinque Terre by both, land and sea, and we will return to La Spezia by train in late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at our hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 6 La Spezia - Florence

Today we will drive to Florence. Upon arrival we will stop for lunch (not included) at Mercato Centrale. Then we start our walking tour of Florence from the Galleria Accademia to see the works from artists such as Botticelli, Ghirlandaio and the ever famous sculpture by Michelangelo, David. Later we will reach Santa Maria del Fiore. This Cathedral is an iconic piece of architecture of the city of Florence. It was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi in the 13th century. We will continue to walk by Piazza Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi, till Ponte Vecchio, where we will have some free time for shopping. Dinner and overnight at our hotel (B, D)

Day 7 Val d’Orcia – Viterbo

 This morning we will reach the small town of Pienza situated in Val D’Orcia. The name comes from Pope Pius II, who was born here, and it means the city of Pius. We will have a relaxing walk through its historic centre that from 1996 is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will enjoy a restaurant lunch to taste the famous Pecorino Cheese. After lunch, we will continue to Viterbo driving through the enchanting Val d’Orcia with its cypress roads and endless landscape views. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Viterbo (B, L, D)

Day 8 Civita di Bagnoregio - Rome

After breakfast, we will head Civita di Bagnoregio. Known as “the town that is dying” due to the constant erosion of the tuff rocks where it is placed. Civita di Bagnoregio is a magical place that can only be reached by crossing a narrow pedestrian bridge. On foggy days this surreal town seems literally suspended in mid-air. After lunch, we will continue to Rome. Dinner and overnight at our hotel (B, D)Day 9 Vatican Museums - Baroque SquaresAfter breakfast, we will start our tour with a visit of Vatican Museums where we will see the magnificent rooms painted by Raphael as well as the Sistine Chapel, followed by a tour of the Basilica of St Peter. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a downtown walking tour of Rome including Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Trevi and Spanish Steps. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight (B, D)

Day 9 Vatican Museums - Baroque Squares

After breakfast, we will start our tour with a visit of Vatican Museums where we will see the magnificent rooms painted by Raphael as well as the Sistine Chapel, followed by a tour of the Basilica of St Peter. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a downtown walking tour of Rome including Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Trevi and Spanish Steps. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight (B, D)

Day 10 Imperial Rome - Free afternoon

This morning we will tour the Colosseum (inside visit). Then we will continue to the Roman Forum, the religious, political, and commercial center of ancient Rome, and for centuries, the entire civilized world. We see the Arches of Constantine & Titus. We will reach also Aventino Hill for a special photo stop of the panoramic view from the Garden of Orange Trees. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore Rome on our own. Tonight we will enjoy a farewell dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Rome. (B, D)

Day 11 Departure

After an early breakfast, we will leave by motor coach and transfer to Rome airport for return flights home (B)
