Arrive Lisbon Airport. After checking through immigration and customs, we will be welcomed by our tour manager and bus driver. We will have a panoramic city tour of Lisbon including the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua, St. Geronimo’s Monastery and the Belem Tower. Celebrate Mass. Free afternoon for shopping or to discover the historical old quarter of Lisbon or to taste the delicious Pasteis de Nata. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Lisbon (D)

Today, we will head to Fatima. We will stop in the town of Santarem to celebrate Mass at St. Stephens Church and to venerate the 13th century Eucharistic Miracle. In the afternoon we might have the opportunity to do the Via Crucis in Valhinos (TBC). After dinner at our hotel, possibility to participate in the nightly candlelight procession. Overnight in Fatima (B, D)

We will spend the day in and around Fatima. We will visit the Chapel of the Apparitions, the Basilica and the tombs of Francisco and Jacinta and Sr. Lucia, and Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In Aljustrel and Valinhos, we will see the two homes of the little shepherds and site of the first and third visit of the “Angel of Peace”. We will stop at the Parish Church and the cemetery where Francisco and Jacinta were once buried. Free afternoon for personal religious activities. After dinner at our hotel, possibility to participate in the nightly candlelight procession. Overnight in Fatima (B, D)

After breakfast we will drive to the town of Nazarè which is famous for the giant waves that attract lots of surfers from alla over the world. Upon arrival will be taking a ride all the way up toSítio da Nazaré”. Here we will visit the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Nazaré, a place that has received many pilgrimages over the centuries. Celebrate Mass. Today we will enjoy lunch in a local restaurant on the sea and later some relaxing time on the beach. Return to Fatima for dinner and overnight (B, L, D)

This morning we will continue our drive to Santiago de Compostela. On the way we will stop in Pontevedra to visit the church of La Peregrina. Its unusual design in the shape of a scallop shell indicates that it is one of the main stop on the Portuguese section of the Way of Saint James. Celebrate Mass. After lunch, we will reach Santiago. Dinner and overnight at our hotel (B, D)

We will spend the day in Santiago. We will start entering the Holy Door and celebrating Mass. Then we will visit the imposing Cathedral which houses the tomb of St. James, the apostle who converted Spain to Christianity. We will have also a walk through the Old Town with it’s beautiful squares and visit the Church of St Francis. It was founded by St. Francis himself 1214 during his visit to the city. Balance of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Santiago (B, D)

*There is the possibility to do the last part of the Camino from Mt Gozo to the Cathedral

 

Today we will drive to Finisterre that was considered during the period of Classical Antiquity to be the end of the known world. Furthermore, it is commonly said that this prolongation of the walk to Finisterre was done because pilgrims wanted to burn their old clothes on the sun, as a symbol of purification and personal rebirth. We will stroll the labyrinth of streets of this fishing village and we will see the Romanesque chapel dedicated to Santa Maria das Areas, home to the much-worshipped figure of Christ, known as Christ with the Golden Beard. According to legend, it was thrown overboard from a boat in difficulties and was washed up on the beach in the town. In the afternoon, we will return to Santiago for dinner and overnight (B, D) Day 8- Departure

After an early breakfast, we will leave by motor coach and transfer to the Lisbon airport for return flights home (B)
