Daily Itinerary
Day 1 OCTOBER 5 - DEPART DULLES
Our journey begins as we depart Dulles on Flight UA942 at 10:55 pm to Lisbon.
Day 2 OCTOBER 6 - ARRIVE LISBON, FATIMA
Today, we arrive in Lisbon at 10:20 am and will be greeted by the tour manager. We will transfer to the city center and enjoy a typical breakfast with pastel and coffee. We then meet the local guide for a tour, which includes the Tower of Belem, Monastery of San Jeronimos, and Monument to the Discoveries. We will continue to the old town of Lisbon and have some free time for lunch and shopping. We will then drive to the Church of San Antonio to celebrate Mass. We continue to Fatima, where we will spend the next two nights.
Day 3 OCTOBER 7 - FATIMA
During our stay in Fatima, we will visit the Chapel of the Apparitions, the Basilica, and the tombs of Francisco, Jacinta and Sr. Lucia. We will also visit the Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In Aljustrel and Valinhos, we will see the two homes of the little shepherds and the site of the first and third visits of the “Angel of Peace”. We will stop at the Parish Church and the cemetery where Francisco and Jacinta were once buried, and celebrate Mass. After dinner, we will join the nightly candlelight procession. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at the hotel in Fatima.
Day 4 OCTOBER 8 – FATIMA, SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
This morning, we will drive to Santiago de Compostela. Upon arrival, we will visit the tomb of St. James, the apostle who converted Spain to Christianity, which is in the huge 11th century Romanesque Cathedral. We will also walk in the beautiful Old Town with its plazas. We will celebrate Mass here. We will check into hotel for the evening. Dinner and overnight in Santiago de Compostela.
Day 5 OCTOBER 9 - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, BURGOS
After breakfast, we will drive to Burgos. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a guided tour of the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of Burgos, a masterpiece of Spanish Gothic architecture. The profusion of sculptural decoration and grandiose proportions make this cathedral one of the most impressive in Spain. It is also the third largest after the cathedrals of Seville and Toledo. Built from white limestone, the cathedral is renowned for its elegance and sense of harmony. We will celebrate Mass here. Dinner and overnight in Burgos.
Day 6 OCTOBER 10 – BURGOS, LOYOLA, LOURDES
Today, we depart Burgos and drive towards Lourdes. En route, we will stop in Loyola to visit the birthplace of St Ignatius and the Shrine to celebrate Mass. Then we will continue to Lourdes and check into hotel for the evening. After dinner, we will join the nightly rosary and candlelight procession. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes.
Day 7 OCTOBER 11 - LOURDES
Today, we will spend the day in Lourdes that includes a visit to the historical and spiritual sites associated with the visionary child Bernadette. We will begin at the Grotto of the Apparitions and then continue a guided walking tour visiting the Basilica of St. Pius X, Boly Mill, the Soubirous family home, the Basilica of the Rosary, the miraculous spring and the healing baths. We will celebrate Mass here. After dinner, we will join the nightly rosary and candlelight procession. Dinner and overnight in Lourdes.
Day 8 OCTOBER 12 – LOURDES, JAVIER, ZARAGOZA
After breakfast, we will drive to Javier in Navarra. Upon arrival we will visit the Castillo de Javier, the birthplace of St Francis Xavier, one of the two patron saints of the Navarre autonomous region. We will also visit the Basilica and celebrate Mass here. Then we will continue to Zaragoza to check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 9 OCTOBER 13 – ZARAGOZA, MONTSERRAT, BARCELONA
After breakfast, we will enjoy a panoramic walking tour with the guide. We will visit the Basilica del Pilar with its magnificent altar built on the site where the Blessed Virgin appeared to the Apostle James. We will celebrate Mass here. After lunch, we will continue our drive to Montserrat to visit the Abbey. Then we will reach Barcelona for dinner and overnight.
Day 10 OCTOBER 14 - BARCELONA
After breakfast, we will have a guided city tour which includes the most important sites of Barcelona such as Sagrada Familia (inside), Paseig de Gracia, Plaza Catalunya, Montjuic, Barrio Gotico and Barcelona’s Cathedral. After lunch, we will have time for leisure and shopping. We return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 11 OCTOBER 15 - DEPART BARCELONA, ARRIVE DULLES
We will have an early morning check out and transfer to the airport. We will depart Barcelona on Flight UA991 at 11:15 am and will arrive in Dulles at 2:30pm.
