Day 1 April 15 - Depart the USA
Depart the USA
Day 2 April 16 - Arrival and Drive to Assisi
After landing at Rome’s international airport, we meet our tour manager after the baggage claim area, board our bus, and drive to Assisi. Break for lunch on the way. If time permits, we stop in the Valley of Assisi to visit Santa Maria degli Angeli and to celebrate Mass. See the Porziuncola, the chapel where St. Francis founded the Franciscan Order. Check in at the hotel in Assisi. Enjoy dinner at the hotel and experience the rich flavors of Umbrian cuisine.
Day 3 April 17 - Assisi: St. Francis and Blessed Carlo Acutis
After breakfast, we start the guided tour. Visit the Basilica of St Claire to celebrate Mass. Guided tour includes: St. Claire and St. Francis, where we can explore the lower and upper churches and visit the tomb of St. Francis. Marvel at the frescoes by Giotto and Cimabue. Break for lunch. This afternoon, we will visit the Sanctuary of the Spoliation in Assisi, where Blessed Carlo Acutis is buried. Time at leisure for personal activities. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Assisi.
Day 4 April 18 - Day Trip to Siena: St. Catherine of Siena
After an early morning breakfast, we drive to Siena. Visit the Basilica of San Domenico to venerate the relics of St. Catherine, including her head and finger. We will also see St. Catherine’s House, the birthplace of St. Catherine of Siena, which has been converted into a monastery. Break for lunch at the Piazza del Campo. – Time at leisure. Optional visit to the Duomo of Siena (the Divine Beauty). Return to Assisi for the dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 April 19 - Assisi to Orvieto and Rome
Breakfast and check out. Depart Assisi and drive to Orvieto (approximately 1.5 hours). Visit the Orvieto Cathedral, where we can see the relic of the Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena. Celebrate Mass. Time at leisure for lunch. In the afternoon, we will drive to Rome. Arrive at our hotel in Rome and check in—dinner and overnight in Rome.
Day 6 April 20 - Vatican Museums, St Peter’s Basilica, Fountains, and Squares
After breakfast, we start the day with a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel. Continue to San Peter’s Basilica, where we will enter the First Holy Door of our Jubilee. Explore St. Peter’s Basilica and its treasures, including Michelangelo’s Pietà. Break for lunch. This afternoon, we will walk throughout the streets of the “centro storico” city center to see iconic sites like the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and the Pantheon. Celebrate Mass and enjoy time at leisure for shopping. Return to the hotel for dinner. Overnight in Rome.
Day 7 April 21 - Papal Audience and Basilicas
Early morning transfer to San Peter’s square, attend the Papal. Break for lunch. This afternoon, we will visit the other three major basilicas in Rome: John Lateran, St. Mary Major, and St. Paul Outside the Walls – and pass through the Holy Doors – celebrate Mass and return to the hotel for dinner - overnight in Rome.
Day 8 April 22 - Rome to San Giovanni Rotondo via Montecassino
After breakfast, we check out and depart Rome for Montecassino. Visit the Abbey, the site where St. Benedict lived and established the Benedictine Order. Celebrate Mass. Enjoy time at leisure for lunch near Montecassino. Continue to San Giovanni Rotondo. Arrive at our hotel in San Giovanni Rotondo and check in. Dinner at the hotel and overnight stay.
Day 9 April 23 - San Padre Pio and San Michael’s Cave
This morning, after breakfast, we will visit the Sanctuary of Padre Pio. Visit the Shrine of Padre Pio, including his tomb, the old church, and the new church designed by Renzo Piano. Celebrate Mass at the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Have lunch in San Giovanni Rotondo. In the afternoon, we will drive to Monte Sant’Angelo. Visit the Sanctuary of St. Michael the Archangel, a pilgrimage site visited by many saints, including Padre Pio.
Day 10 April 24 - San Giovanni Rotondo to Lanciano and Ancona
Early Morning check out. Breakfast and depart for Lanciano. Visit the Sanctuary of the Eucharistic Miracle, where the miracle of the host turning into flesh and wine into blood occurred. Celebrate Mass. Have lunch in Lanciano. Continue to Ancona. Arrive in Ancona, check in for your overnight ferry to Split, and embark—dinner onboard, overnight on the ferry.
Day 11 April 25 - Medjugorje
Arrive in Split in the early morning. Disembark from the ferry and drive to Medjugorje. Have lunch at your hotel in Medjugorje. This afternoon, with our guide, we will climb Apparition Hill, where the Virgin Mary appeared to the children. Attend the 5.30 PM English mass. Dinner at our hotel and overnight stay in Medjugorje.
Day 12 April 26 - Medjugorje and Drive to Sarajevo
This morning, we will hike up Cross Mountain, where a large cross was erected in 1933, and participate in the Stations of the Cross. Return to your hotel for lunch. Depart for Sarajevo. Arrive in Sarajevo, check into our hotel. Enjoy dinner in Sarajevo and an overnight stay.
Day 13 April 27 - Departure from Sarajevo
Transfer to Sarajevo International Airport for our departure.
